Relay terminal numbering

This may be a 'dumb' question!?

where do the numbers 30-85-86-87-87a actually come from? is there a 'standard' terminal numbering system?

does this also cover terminal numbers on flasher units? Timer relays?

if so where can i get hold of it!!!
