I bought a 375 watt inverter, a soldering stand and a 15 watt weller.

I added a rubber band and walla! I had my new DC powered soldering station. No cords to trip over and burn someone's car, safer to rest the iron than a butane torch type. The 375 watt is a little overkill, it does have an extra outlet and I may use it for more than a soldering iron.

The inverter costed about $50, the stand $10 (includes sponge tray), the iron was about $15.

Not a bad little setup for $75. I'll be using this more than once. It's great for the dremel too. It does have modified sine wave, not real AC, but it works for most things, it's fine for what I do.

I used the butane for awhile but the tip is spent and I didn't have a good way to stand it up. The electric iron is more reliable for me.
