i need a simple lcd display that will show up to 72 volts and higher but not more than 80.....the reason why is i have 4 batteries in the trunk of my car for my hydraulics, right now i use a digital multimeter to test but i want a permanent solution of showing me the voltage. i was going to buy a cheap multimeter and use the display exept i want the "lit" kind that shows alot like the volt meter on a car audio capacitor.
any ideas?
sweet.

Explain to me how the batteries would be even remotely measuring 72 volts DC???
All of your batteries are wired in parallel. Hence they will always be at 12.6 12.8 VDC at rest. And 14.3 to 14.8 while charged from the alternator.
Explain this to me . . .

They would be run in series, hydraulics pumps require much more the 12 volts to run. I think it is 48 for the pumps and 24/36 for the dumps. I don't see the reason to go as high as 80V for a meter, though.

Awwwwwwww, I see. I have only seen 24 volt systems in operation. Never anything reaching 72 volts for any automotive application.

hey guys! thanks for the reply!
the reason for a gauge that reads that high,is that i have 4 running right now and another four to add to the setup.
so technically 96 volts exept they usually don't need to be charged to the "brink" it's a street setup not for comp. anything 80 volts and under is sufficient.
sweet.
