i need help tightening the trunk on my 95 honda civic. im getting too much rattle from my 2 12" subs. will tightening the latch down stop the rattle, if so how do i do it? if not what do i need to do? i killed most of the rattle inside the trunk and when i put my weight on the trunk it sounds perfect. i heard about putting weather stripping or silicon along the edge of the trunk, will these work?

Bolt on a 30 pound wing, that autta do it. No, but seriously you can try weather stripping or cauking but this is something that everyone seems to struggle with. You can also use dynamat if you can pin point where the rattle is actually comming from. If you have fold down seats you can put latches on the inside that pull the trunk down, I have seen that one before. I think first thing is to pin point exactly what is rattling and then go from there

4 cans of expanding foam sealent in the trunk lid of my 94' Corsica (i sold it or i'd offer pics) also took out the tail lights and used padding to keep them from rattling (took 2 people to re-instll them they were so tight).

Be real careful doing this, I know people who did this in the winter and the foam never cured. Still leaks to this day. Also if you look at the latch, there should be 2 10mm bolts, loosen them and slide the latch down, adjust and tighten the bolts.

Try a 1" thick layer of egg carton foam. It might not look the best in the world, but it should work...or you could always go the ricer route and find a way to attach hood pins to the trunk....honestly though, you're better off with going all out and buying the Dynamat. Nothing really works better unless you start messing with the latch itself.
