I have a 1999 Jeep Gr Cherokee Ltd and had te avic installed by Best Buy, as an employee they were even more adimate about not bypassing teh parking brake as it was.  I searched the net and found this site which told me how to do it myself.  It was easy enough.  I even installed a switch to to turn the functionality on and off, just in case i ever get pulled over.  It was very easy, just run a line into the switch that would normally be going to the brake then run the ground from the switch into the ground.  On it will make the dvd run, off it gives the standard message abot video veiw while drivig is prohibited.  Any rocker switch from Radioshack does the job perfectly.  I nestled the switch inside my center console.

How "Off" is your accuracy? Mine is within about a car-length, or two, which to me is pretty damn good for a moving GPS unit. My Garmin iQue is about the same. The speed reading with the Dynamics, and ETA calculations are pretty much on all the time, unless I have reallllly poor reception (rarely). I mean, any GPS is going to be off by a few yards/meters anyway, just the nature of them.
I had bad credit. Anyone have any they can loan me? lol

Mine is off about 3 to 4 car lenths.  I was sure if that is normal or not.  My VSS is right on target.  Just checking. thanks

few things for this post,

since the goverment owns the technology that allow GPS to work, i have read on a lot of technical articles about the "accurecy" of consumer GPS, from my common knowlage that sometimes during heightened periods of political issues they will make the consumer singnal in accurate.

also the N1 jsut has the parking break lockout roumer has the N2 is going to make this not "hackable" with a internal gyro unit that will lock out DVD

Any of you people here who ground the parking brake wire instead of connecting it to the Parking Brake please read.
Be advised that you could be held responsible in the event of an accident if it is believed that the driver was watching the unit while driving.
You could also be sued for something as simple as the driver getting a ticket for watching the unit while driving.
Please check with a lawyer in your area if you are doing this.
That being said... we always connect the wire and show the owner where it is and advise them that they can do what they want with it, but we have to install it properly. We have never had a customer get mad over this issue.
