Does anyone know the reason why crutchfield tells me that almost no radio will fit in the dash opening of a malibu?  I have not taken one out in one of these vehicles yet so I don't know what the restrictions are for the depth.  I'm sure someone has installed a system in one somewhere but I don't know how much if any fabrication is involved.  I have someone who would like to just replace the deck and wants to purchase it themself so I would simply be doing a favor by putting it in.  Any help would be appreciated.  I was trying to avoid tearing into his car if nothing will fit without major fabbing.  Thanks

Not sure about the fit, though I wouldn't be surprised if it has a shallow dash opening.  I've seen that with GM's before.

Main thing I wanted to point out was that this vehicle has the class II wiring system in it, and you'll need a special adapter to install an aftermarket head unit properly, as well as a GM antenna adapter.
