Well, that cloth is some pretty strong sh*t. I don't know the size of your box but I would say that should most likely do it.

oonikfraleyoo....... you are saying that using a pruduct how it is intended is cutting corners??? or is it just because it is not the conventional way of doing it because it saves time?
resin additives have been around for a long time and are used for saving time and money. they also are around for specific needs such as verticle and upsidedown layering. granted they are not specifically made for the car audio industry, but then again what install product of this nature is???
oh and you better make a call to JL and tell them they need to think of a better way to join the 2 halves of their stealth boxes because they are doing it wrong.

It's fine for use if there is no other way. It IS cutting coroners. I am well aware that they have been used for quite some time and I use them myself but you should not use them in a project that requires high strength. They are plain and simple not as strong as fiberglass done the right way. Useing cabosil to join a box is different from constructing a box with one layer of resin and a coat of cabosil. I have been working with working with fiberglass for over 15 years and trust me there is a time and place for shortcuts and I wouldn't recommend anyone use one in a subwoofer enclosure.

Hey, is fiberglass repair cloth/mat the same thing as regular fiberglass mat. Do they just call it something different but in actuality it is the same thing?

So does using thte cabosil reduce the amount of layers you need to use mat on? Does cabosil make the interior of the box strong enough to prevent it from flexing? Help!!

That's what is used for. The problem is that 99% of the time is over used and used under the wrong circumstances. Just do it the right way. Like everything else in life, when you take a shortcut you end up with an inferior product.
