Pathfinder Locking Issue

First a bit of a story...

A couple of years ago, our 1992 Pathfinder electric door locks started acting up when it gets cold. Unlocking the doors with the key would often be difficult because the actuator seemed to be fighting back. We would turn the key to unlock and the actuator would push back to the locked position as soon as pressure on the key was released. Or, once unlocked, the doors would sometimes relock automatically when the door was slammed closed.

A couple of years ago I removed the driver's door panel take a look. The actuator has one main wiring harness, and then a single wire (at least I think it was single). This single wire appears to send a signal to lock all the doors when the driver's door is locked by pressing down the manual lock button (or knob) on the top of the door, or by a key from the exterior. BTW, the passenger door is set up the same.

Disconnecting this wire made the door easier to unlock with the key - - basically, the actuator was no longer physically fighting against the key turn. So, I left that wire disconnected (as much as I hate doing that), and have had no negative effects except that I can no longer lock all the doors with the key or by pusing down the manual knob on the drivers side. The passenger side continues to be an issue, but it's not as big a deal as the driver's side.

This issue is slightly less significant now that I have installed a key-less entry system, but it still bugs me. And like I said, I hate having to disconnect OEM wires to make things function.

So, having said all that....

Any suggestions as to what may be going on here? Why would this wire be sending a locking signal (if it is) when it gets cold, causing the actuator to fight against the key turning?

No, the vehicle has no alarm. And the issue I described with the door locks predates the installation of the keyless-entry / remote starter by a couple of years.

I figure maybe the wires are induced with a grounding signal due to the cold weather or something. Just thought I would throw it our there...
