What alarm to buy?

$500?.....you can easily find them under a $100. Theres alot of good alarms out there. Try ebay for some ideas.

I agree.  DEI has been making alarms for years and they now carry and make many different brands and models.  I've had 4 alarms in 4 different cars and always used DEI products (both security and audio) and have been very pleased. 

About the installation, I highly recommend you buying from a shop that sells the alarm "installed".  The price has both the alarm and installation built in.  And in your case, it would be a very simple alarm setup.  Since you don't have power door locks, there would be even fewer wires to hook up.  One thing you also want to consider is what type of sensor(s) you want.  Shock sensors are obviously the most popular and are the least troublesome in most cases.  There are other sensors like glass breaking and radar, but my limited experience with the radar sensors have always been headaches.  Also, make sure when whomever installs your alarm that they put a starter kill if the alarm doesn't already do it.  Some shops I've heard about in the past would install an alarm but didn't hook up the starter kill relay even though it was a function of the alarm.  Beyond that most shops should be able to answer most questions that you have.
