My five year old RF Punch 500 finally died the other day, and it is time to by a new amp. I have one 12 Kicker L7 and the RF was pushing it to near max power. It's been a while since I've shopped for an amp, so I was just wondering what amp you guys would suggest. I'm leaning toward another RF of Kicker, but I heard the new RF's suck.

I used a JL 500/1 to power one of mine. I bought an Alpine MRV-1505 rated at 900rms for each of my 12" L7's but, believe it or not, one of those doesn't come close to the 500/1. I've had the 1000/1 but it was a bit to much. Trust me, the JL is worth the money!!
My wife will never understand why, lucky for her!

Try looking to hifonics.  They have the brutus 1000 w and they hit, and if you look around you can find them for cheap. a lot cheaper than the jls

Hurry get me a steel hanger, elec tape, zip ties, a monkey and a snorgle. trust me i've ran wires with less

dont pick if you want quality imho....choose a well known name that can deliver the performance and dependability that you want...the hifonics is cheap yes, but has its issues..i'd pick profile over them...

the turtle shell fosgate are rock solid imo...(2002)?.. but what ohm is the l7??

It's a dual 2-ohm. I am more interested in getting a quality amp then a good deal.

I have 2 l7s and i will give you advice that i recieved when shopping for an amp. You get what you pay for. I wasted alot of money on cheap "high power" amps trying to save money. I finally bought a kicker 800.2 and i couldnt be happier.

the l7 is rated at 750 rms...but they do more. i done systems (im head installer at for a factory direct kicker dealer) with on 12'' l7 and a kicker kx 1200.1, and that setup gets loud. another way to go would be a kx 600.1, it will run at one ohm with no problems even though it's rated at two. then you could always add another 600.1 later. the sub will handle the power. i speak the truth.
