Me, , for 1/0 awg crimp on connectors, , i break out the tourch and solder, , heat that baby up and cram about 20" of solder into the wire.  Takes about 5 min to do it all, , but you get a nice smooth finish in the end.

oh yeah, I forgot. hammering on concrete works good, but a using a anvil to hammer on works great. anvils are avalible at harbor fraight tools. you don't need a big one. a 25lb one will work well.
