That's a great link and I had the same idea, except the problem is since the front of the faceplate goes out and then DOWN to open, I cannot push the deck further into the dash in order to create room to simply latch on the false plate. I have a link now to my car's dash and my dilema. As you can see by the last pic, i need something to suspend it further out and then also cover the gap.

can you make a sleave or lip to hang off that cup holder thingy, or slide in there, it doesn' thave to be really sturdy, people aren't going to inpsect it for 20 min, they are going to look and pass it up

i actually seen in a car stereo magazine, that the old factory face, was like the one in the link from above, only he actually used some kind of a hinge and something else...maybe you can use a hinge and attach it to the factory face plate and so on. you could mount it on the bottom of the face plate, and just flip it down when you need to use your aftermarket

Well if pushing it back is "impossible" why not try cutting a section out from under it. It'll take away from stock appearance, but a thief isn't gonna sit there and go "hmmm, could that little opening mean there is a present hiding inside?" they are gonna see it, think, nah, and move on...

Though I must ask, who the hell is DUMB enough to steal an ESN HU? Really, I understand people are dumb enough to buy them then realize they wasted the money, but man, you'd think word would be out... And I also understand that it doesn't stop them from tearing up your vehicle. Again, sometimes violence is worth it. IMO. And I know that is just stupid.

EDIT: Also assuming that you don't really need that little holder under your HU and have a piece to cover it. And also depends on the framing around it too I guess. Meh. Just ignore me. :)

people will still steal an esn, i think anyone dumb enough to go around stealing sh*t, probably doesn't even know about it, or look at the type, most of them just grab and go, no theives are smart, if they were, they'd have a job, a lot of times people don't even take wiring harnesses or faceplates or they leave important parts behind,
