I just install for friends and family, and then word of mouth takes over.  this way, you get experiance, maybe a little money which you can put towards a store or land or whatever.  I cant say enough good things about word of mouth,  and also the customer is always right.  I tell my people to bring me their equipment, that they bought with my guidance, like ill got to the store or look on the internet, and tell them about all the numbers, and what I like, and have tried.  get their input, how do they like their high notes, low notes, where do they want the most sound? inside the car or in the trunk?  you know.  then when they have all the stuff, and materials, i'll install it.  then I wont really charge them, im still doing it for experiance, but I usually get a nice tip.

just get a cell phone. make a few business cards. start passing them out. and make sure you take pictures of your work. find a mechanic shop willing to rent out a bay for a couple  hundred a month.

Wait till you come back and have a business plan. Without a business plan, you've lost before you even started. If you not sure what a business plan is go here: http://www.sba.gov/starting_business/planning/basic.html

Personally, I would stick with one from the link above and then go to your bank to present them with your business plan. Your personal banker or loans manager would be the perfect person to critique your business plan and help you with certain aspects of your business and it's free How to start a car audio install shop - Last Post -- posted image.. Next person I would speak to would be your accountant and ask him/her for tips or details that you should avoid doing to prevent bad start up decisions.

By take these precaustionary steps in building the foundations of your business, it will save you time, money and embarrassment in the future. Best to ask other business owner's of independant shops what they suggest you  " don't do " to save yourself grief. Who better to ask than the exisiting people who have already made mistakes for you. Also, do a search on this forum for tips for businesses because this topic has been brought up many times by other member's.
