i have two 12D6 MA subs, they're in a sealed box 3.0^. but i'm really wanting to go vented sometime soon. especially in a fiberglass box. but the thing is..the specs say that each sub needs 2.5^ of space for vented! thats insane and to have a box with two 12" subs that is 5.0^ is way too big for my car (90' honda crx) so is the spec correct or can i get away with making the enclouser smaller. the sealed box currently takes up the whole hatch. help please! and thanx you!

Get the T/S parameters for the subs and model them in a program like WinISD or Unibox.  The manufacturer's recomendations are usually for a "typical performance" enclosure, but you can do anything you want with any speaker as long as you understand the ramifications and compensate for or accept them.

http://www.maaudio.com/sub/support_boxparameters.html The parameters should be in there.

alright well, i put in the specs. into winisd, and its even worse than the actual specs for what ma audio needed. when i put in the specs the enclouser for 2 12d6, comes out to 6.70^3. which is really really big for my car. (sighs) dunno what to do! lol

It sounds like you need to play around with the box size more. If you just go with what WinISD automatically calculates you are probobly going to have a huge box. Play around with box size and different tuning frequencys.
