i think everyone knows this already, but it should be clarified that sealed enclosures are the best if you have limited space available.  the prefab bandpass boxes are usually designed to put out maximum bass at around 60 hz. they can be designed to for max output at whatever frequency you want, you have to know what you're doing to make one that sounds good.  i'd never attempt it cause they sound like ass and it's hard to make them right.
