primer as paint?

hey can you use a primer as a paint? im painting my emblems and the spray paint like cracks but the primer goes on nice, i wanna use a black primer then uses a clear coat on top of that. will it work? also could this be done on fiberglass?

the paint probly isnt compatible with the primer.  what kind of primer and paint are u using?

You can use the primer as a paint if you want and clear it. Also if you want you could spray primer on it, sand it smooth, then add another layer of primer and NOT clear it. This is all the rage with Hot Rodders and Rat Rodders. You can also do this on top of the fiberglass as long as it is smooth, clean and preped first.

abovestock, is that like the 2004 black F-150 that was featured in 'Truckin a few months back? Dude from metallica owned it? It had a satin finish on it...kinda did look like primer but smooth

Sounds like it, black satin is pretty popular. I have seen some people use tinted PPG primer also. The sky is the limit.

I didnt know the sky had a limit?   hehehe, just kidding abovestock.  Yeah man I've been using the old krylon rattlecan primer and it goes on great. Its really smooth if your surface is prepped right.
