You're the only one who can answer that.  Go listen to different subs.  Of equal importance is how you're installing them - box, baffle, vented, slotted, ported, sealed...  How much space?  Figure that out first, then look for what fits & sounds right.

Kicker Comp VRs can be found pretty cheap, also Type Rs are a good bet.

I used to really like Soundstream stuff wayy back when they were making there Exact line of speakers and Rubicon amps... I dunno about thier newer stuff.. it all looks so ...

I dunno.  It looks purposely aimed at the tuner market and that kinda rubs me the wrong way.  Like.. the VanGogh is prolly a pretty good sounding woofer but why'd they have to ruin it with a little neon blue spider?  What does a spider have to do with the painter eh?  I really liked Soundstreams naming conventions of "D'Artagnan" and "Picasso" and "DaVinci"....  used to be gold embossed sketches from DaVinci.. now its blue spiders.  Ick.  Kinda reminds me of chrome flames from another crap-brand..

i know the spiders everywhere  i don't like it much my self but the SPLX subs and the XXX subs don't have the spiders and the van gogh amps have a simple look and no spiders and the T 4 subs have the spider on them but they are loud as hell for $260 for a 15" 1000 rms

I second these choices, especially the 1 15" sub in a ported box, it will take up about as much room as 2 12's or a little more but will hit so much harder with less power required to move it compared to getting 2 12's moveing the the same volume.
