i'm trying to help my friend install some speakers and a HU into his s10 pickup. i just wanted to know how i go about removing the whole dash seems to be not feasible. and some info. on how to remove the stock HU.

heh, that's a joy, i've done it about 7 times on my own. basically you need to take out the panel below the steering column, the bezel that goes around the cluster and stereo/HVAC. first take out the screws in the panel below the column, and when that falls you should see two screws in brackets attached to the bezel. unscrew those, then take the screw out that goes upwards on the top of the gauge cluster section. those 3 screws on the bezel should release it, and then there are 4 screws holding the factory deck in. if you need any help with anything PM me, im sure i still have my physical diagrams floating around my desk somewhere.
