so my sub and amp are shutting down in protect mode. My question is - should my sub level on my deck be set to high ie 9/9.. or should i have the gain setting for my amp higher?? THe system works fine until it hits certain notes then it goes into protect mode.. THanks.

What amp are you using?

Do you have a cap?

How high is the gain on the amp right now?

How long have you been having the problem?

My Vibe 250 was doing the same thing when I was using it about 6 months ago, it ended up going out the next week on me.

As a rule i never ever use my deck to get more bass sometimes if im trouble shooting but as a rule i have my sub at 0 and use the setting on my amp to do all of the adjustments. The amp is where your going to get the best amount of bass and quiality.

Make sure that the voltage input on your amp matches the voltage output on your radio. If you have the amp input to high you are probably feeding distortion to you amp and sending it into protect mode. Also your subs could be blown depening on if you have DVC's or not.
The sub level on your deck, are you saying the Bass level or level of current the is going out of your RCA's on your deck. What type of deck do you have?

as mobile1 said what ohm load do you have on the amp? I looked to find the specks on the amp,and lanzar.com does not list a vibe258. They do list a vibe 250,251,261 models. they are only 2 ohm stable in stereo mode. 4 ohm bridged mode.
