I am currently using a computer safe test light called The Probe. It plugs into the cigarette lighter, its black with a thin needle probe, a curly cord, a red light for 12volts, and a green light for ground. I love this thing but its getting old and worn. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me where I can get a new one. Is the company still active?

I recently got a new test light from Snap-On. Its nice.

I bought mine from MAC tools about a year ago. It just like you describe. It says "THE PROBE" on the light. It comes in a plastic case. It was about 60 dollars with shipping. I think its hands down the best test light I've evr owned. Thank god it wasnt damaged when my garagw was flooded last month by Hurrucane Katrina. It was one of my few tools i was able to salvage.

You guys are nuts for using that thing. I've witnessed an airbag explosion by that thing first hand.

In this post I agree with this statement... I use a power probe, one of those circuit safe pistol grip lights, a DMM from astroflex (multitest 2), and a standard DMM. I have been installing for over 22 years...The only time I have ever seen a mishap with a test light, was from an installer with an attitude, NOT paying attention!

It's been a great little instrument. It's makes it easy searching for the RPM lead...when it flashes it's little heaert out I know I've found the jackpot!

Check all advice given with a meter
