Hey,

i need to get either a longer ribbon cable or splice mine up to add a couple inches to the one i have.It is the ribbon cable that goes from a 6.5" pioneer monitor to the board for the buttons. The one i have is litteraly 1" long and i need to get at least another 1". The ribbon is 1/2" wide and has 14 conductor. I would need a microscope to cut in half and solder some more wire. Does anybody know where i could get any ? Thanks

Here are the pics of the cable and the plug it goes in.

hi,

with using a ruler...metric and/or english units, carefully measure the pitch (spacing between the centers of the conductor pads).  Mouser and Digi-Key both have many options, i.e. pitch, # of cond.& length available.  I'm betting you could find a piece from them to use.  search flat flex cable.  hope this helps.

Ween had the right idea. You may also be able to find the connector, but not a PCB mount type, that matches. It is definitely better to find the pitch and match it up. The Digikey live help is quite useful, too. They should be able to find a solution.
