Just had laser eye surgery and I am having trouble seeing the color bands on some wires. I have here a 1998 Dodge pu and need the wait to start and tach lines, their location would be kinda handy as well. I should be ready to go on this part of the install in about 20 minutes. I cannot see any infernal stupid little plugs on the engine side of the firewall in the center either. Engine is a 5.9L 6 cylinder TIA

there is two plugs in the engine compartment on at the top of the firewall near the master cylinder the tach wire is grey/light blue or grey/black. the wait to start light is negative ORANGE / black. it is also found under the dash in the bulkhead connector harness

Found the tach line, next up is the wts. Either I can't see (highly likely) the right wire for the wts or I am testing the wrong ones.

ORANGE / BLACK At PCM. Can Also Be Found At 74 Pin Connector Behind Instrument Cluster.

Also... ORANGE / black in large connector beside ebrake. -ve. Only orange black in there smaller than 14ga.

So, the starter is staying engaged too long. There is absolutely no black / grey wire at the pcm, there is absolutely no two harnesses hanging on the center firewall. Anyone else have any ideas? The wire we did find and use was a grey / black wire found in the main harness on the firewall on the driver side.It read 5.9 VAC and does not change with rpm.

The vehicle again is a Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel 5.9L

Tach: Tan/ Yellow at cam sensor (AC). 3 pin connector for tac can be found behind top rad hose coming from the cam sensor

I have a 97 Ram Diesel I connected mine right at the plug on the very front of the Engine. There is a small wire bundle coming up from the Crank shaft pulley. Hope it helps.(Mine worked great for a day, I cant find the problem now just keeps cranking was wondering if there was any other way to send a signal to sense that engine had started?)
