We had a problem with a remote wire not putting out enough juice to turn on a Rockford Fosgate amp..  I called them and they told me that the line needs to put out at least 10v to turn it on and that if it was not that high(8.3v)to use a relay to give it what it needs.  How do I wire in this relay, what do I activate the relay with?  Thank you for you time and help.

Use your remote wire from the deck to trigger the relay.

wire it like this 12v fused (10 to 15 amps) to 87

ground to pin 86

your remote turnon wire to pin 85

nothing to 87a

out to amps from 30

auex

IMO if your remote wire isn't above 10V in the first place then there is a problem with your radio.

For some reason the wire is dropping voltage when it is connected to the 4 channel amp.

can i use the above diagram to run the remote to my amp and 2 fans (one sucking and one blowing)? when running a 12v fan to run backwards do i just wire it in reverse? .ie negative to positive and positive to negative?

I wanted to know what kind of deck was having the remote wire issues.  I ran into the same problem with a kenwood unit.   Yes you can wire most fans 'backwards' to 'suck',  or turn your fan around.

Most decks only put out about 500mV, and each amp required about 175mV to turn on. So, if you're hooking up more than two amps, no matter what head unit you have, you should use a relay.
