I installed a  Hornet 546t remote start in a 2002 BMW 325i  and everything works fine , except that there is a problem with the car starting. It will start if I hold a key right next to the cylinder so I am sure it is an issue with the bypass module.  I have tried the dei and one other bypass module but they both do the same thing.   Is there a vehicle specific module or is there some other way to wire it up so that it will remote start ? Any help is appreciated.

If you look at the wiring diagram for the 556u the one it says will not work on bmw actually does work with bmw.  I ran into the same problem on the same exact car, and that's how I got around it.  The car starts normally now.

You need to open one wire from the factory loop circuit next to the barell , the black antenna of the receiver.
Then attach on each side one lead from the loop circuit. Discard the supplied loop.

If that fails....get a factory transponder ring. BMW part# 66-008362278 should be bout $35.00 no fault, works everytime when wired correctly. The BMW transponder system is very touchy, the number of coils around the key is more important on the BeeM'rs than other cars.

Yeah man. I recommend just getting the factory ring. I've done newer BMW's and haven't had any luck other than using the factory ring. It should save you some time anyways.
