This is the first time I install remote starter and alarm on my 92 Toyota camry 4 cyl. Everything is working fine, except for the safety shutdown.  When I press the start button and open the door, then hit the brake, the engine is not shut down  I can even shift the gear to drive the car.

However, when I close the door and hit the brake, the engine is not shutdown. I'm using an after market remote starter and alarm.

Is anyone have any suggestion to help me out with this problem?  Thank you very much.

The Neutral safety I connected to ground (because I couldn't find the OEM switch opens starter circuit), dome light connected to door trigger.  I can only remote start  the car in disarm state.  I have to press two button *+unlock to start the car.

i will assume your car is an automatic. so we will start with the remote start unit. we need the make and model of the unit. if you can forward a link or the wiring info, that would make things easy for us to look everything over........

Not sure if I'm reading your post right but what I'm gathering is that you remote starter will not shut down. Did you test and check your connection at the brake wire?

Yes you get it right, the engine is not shutdown when I hit the brake (no key inserted).  I checked the brake wire many time.

The wierd thing is the engine shutdowns whe I close the door and hit the brake.

This is wired incorrectly..... 87a would get the key side, and 30 would get the car side......87 NOT USED your R/S "start wire would go past the relay on the "car side"   85 gets 12v fused and your orange wire goes to 86.

Did you make sure PIN 5 is going to the CORRECT Brake Wire??

Does the Remote Start SHUT DOWN if you open your Hood??

I just reconnected the starter defeat as the figure of  'adding starter Kill'  from http://www.relayhelp.com and as you said,  #87 is not used, #86 to alarm, #85 to starter side, #87a and #85 to the key side.

The R/S Shutdown when I open the hood.

There are a few things that I noticed it is not normal:

- when I use R/S to unlock, I saw that little red icon (on the dash - odometer) warn the door open (not close properly) and disappear when the dome light go out.

-the engine is not shutdown when domelight is on

So I think whenever the domelight on, the safety brake does not work .

Then I try to reconnect domelight to RED / white(-) @plug under fuse box with the relay as relayhelp.com but not luck.

is it something wrong with the domelight or door trigger  or door lock?

If your R/S shuts down from your HOOD Pin, you need to METER the Brake Light Wire to be sure it has Output from Brake Switch ONLY when you press on Brake Pedal
