I think I f*ed my speaker leads, or blew the channels for them in the headunit. My question is now, would I be able to have sound if I ran a four channel amp off of the signal outputs on the back of the HU?

if the internal amp in the radio is fried; you can most likely still use the preouts.
Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I figured I would just double check before I go wasting my time. If I needed a new headunit might as well go all out and take out the speaker wires, wire everything all at once (new HU, amp, and speakers). I am going on leave here soon for 24 days, driving back to Florida, so need some serious sound but don't have alot of time. Think I'll just wire the amp to the preamp outputs for now. Thanks

Just go to walmart, get a cd player, wire up your car,, go on the trip, and when you get back return the cd player and go buy a good one when you have the funds.

no sound from the head unit - Last Post -- posted image. that's awesome. But If I spend the time wiring it up right, I am going to keep it in there. I was looking at the IVA-D900 navigation unit from alpine.... don't know if I want to spend that much money before leaving though. If it is the internal amp that blew and it works with the 4-channel amp then I'll buy that unit after I get back, if it doesn't work then looks like I'll be buying that IVA-D900 before.
