Is this all predicated on you getting a new car?    The stage you want to build is definitly prequalified by the car you want to design the system for......

Get the foundation first..... then build from there, all vehicles are different for audio qualities...    An 83 Chev caprice vs. an 03 civic....ya know what I mean?

dWarren, I have a question: although a component system would be the ideal way to go for the best sound for a front stage in most (or maybe just a lot of) cases, I think it would depend on where he was going to take his car to have the installation done and what kind of car he has. If he is going from factory to aftermarket, his vehicle may not have mounting holes for a seperate tweeter (if this is what you are referencing), which would more than likely mean some sort of modification to the door panels or dash. This would have to be figured in to the total cost of the system. Wouldn't it be wiser to start out with a good set of 2- or 3-way coaxials in this instance?

I agree, however why bother only going part way. Do it once the right way so as to not have to go back and change it. I look at it this way, you've already got the door panel off to mount the speaker, why not just incorporate the tweeter in the door panel as well (if that's the only place). Pay the extra moeny then and there to avoid going back.

I am not opposed to the whole idea of coax's, because if they sound good to you, why worry.
