Popping Amp

Sometimes my amp pops when I turn my truck on. I was wondering what might be causing this. Thanks

Is it the amp or the subs that you hear, like a "thumpimg" sound? How high is the gain set on the amp?'85 Toy

It sounds like an amp turn on pop.  Try wiring a small value electrolytic capacitor (maybe 220 microfarad) in parallel with the amp turn on lead (positive to turn on lead, negative to ground).  That should delay the amp from turning on just long enough to rid you of the annoying pop.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Make sure that your amp's turn on lead wire (usually blue and white in color) is wired into the same color wire on your head unit and NOT the yellow ignition wire on the back of your head unit. I recently had the same problem and discovered this very thing with my wiring. I wired it correctly and the pop went away. FYI - your head unit should be completely powered up a full second or two seconds before your amp turns on. This will prevent the POP noise you hear. If your amp is turning on before or at the same time your head unit is then you will here a loud pop. Hmmm. Maybe so. It is the blue/white wire which is the amp turn on lead for my Alpine CDA-9833. Maybe it is the red that is the ignition. Getting forgetful in my old age.
