I am installing a Alpine head unit into my truck. I found the constant +12 but when I looked for the +12 with key on I found that that wire has +6volt with key off and +12 with key on ..... whats the deal with that ?

it should be a RED / white wire.

why not use the Metra vehicle interface harness and do it properly??

KGERRY ..... I HAVE the metra harness..... I decided to backprobe anyway... an I foung 6V at the red ignition/switched wire with the key out ... and 12v key on
