I am installing a remote start on a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. In the directions it says that the tach wire on the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0L is the white wire that comes out of the red connector(top connector) on the ECU. Well this is not true for the 8.1L. Where exactly is it? And where does each wire go on the PLDATA II (passlock 2 bypass). Thanks.

Tach is behind the cluster pin white wire. On later models it is pin A5 but not for sure if it is true with your year.

Tach you should be able to get behind the cluster. I know on later models it is pin a5. Not for sure on your year though.

Just did an 02 Silverado 8.1L..used the white wire at pin 10 in the red connector..that was the tach pick-up for this truck..as for the bypass..you have to get diagram from the bypass company..different bypass`s are wired in differently..I prefer the Bulldog 791 unit..its slick and learns quickly and the wiring diagram is with it.
