I am going to be pulling +300 amps for just the sound system in my truck. I know I need a second alternator and batteries. I have never done duel alternators before, just wondering if any one knows what to be careful of or any advice.
I was going to try procrastination but I never got around to it...

i'm not sure everybody would agree with me but i would try a battery isolator before adding another alternator that way u can use one alternator to charge 2 batteries separately and maybe try a high output alternator. and especially with an isolator u can use a regular battery for  starting headlights etc... and use a high end battery for your system

A battery isolator will not help you.  All that does is create a separate electrical system for use with the engine not running.  Dual alt setups can be very tricky and often require special brackets to be fabricated or removal of A'C compressors, etc.  I suggest getting help from a pro car audio shop in your area with experience doing such setups.  If you think you have the experience to do it yourself, I have used Zena generators for custom setups with dual alts.  Expensive, but very high quality.

You could keep your factory electrical system completely factory, and in place of your AC compressor or by bracketry elsewhere add a 300 amp alternator and run that to its own battery. of course the grounds will be shared, but wont cause a problem.  I believe for that kind of set up you would need a 1 wire alternator.
