Just curious, for those dealers who made it to CES, what new products impressed you the most? For me the top three were at the Alpine booth. The PDX amplifiers, Blackbird navigation and the built in I-Pod interface were the ones that stood out the most to me.

Didnt go to CES but I did see those on the alpine website yesterday and was very impressed, the blackbirg and the built in ipod interface were on the homepage and I read up on them a little bit.  I didnt really pay much attention the the pdx amps, just saw them and knew they werent there before, anything particularly special about them?

Go and check out the PDX-1.1000. Looks like a normal 1000X1 mono amp until you look at the SIZE. Alpines BMW 6 series demo car had 4 12" "X" series woofers and each one had one of these on each voice coil. Also 1000 watts RMS is delivered at 2 or 4 ohms. Price isn't bad either.

Alpine is one of the only companies using the CEA-2006 rating system. At 1 watt @ 4 ohms this is actually a quite good number. Look at their other amps ratings. We still have a problem in this industry with a lack of standard rating systems.

Yeah, I got to thinking about that after I had posted. It just seems awfully low compared to what I'm used to seeing. I wonder if head units will start showing the same sort of difference in numbers with the new rating system.

I assume that the built in ipod decks work only with actual ipods? I would love to just put something like that into my wife's car without having to get additional stuff, but she has a Creative Labs Zen for an mp3 player.
