I have undercoated some work with a single pack thinner based undercoat suitable for use under both acrylic and thinner based products.  I have then used an acrylic coat over this.  I have created some stencils for airbrushing but am wondering wheather or not i can use a thinner or acrylic based paint.  The first coat is acrylic gloss black laquer, but will a rattle can oil based product stick to this aswell as being able to be overcoated with a clear acrylic laquer, or am i best off using all acrylics.  I need a few colours to spray the stencils so oil based auto rattle cans are definatly cheaper then the acrylics but will the clear topcoat stick and dry over an oil based product aswell as the original acrylic coat that will act as the backround

If you are using an acrylic enamel for the base, you cannot clear it with a real lacquer it will lift the base color (unless the base has cured, which in the case of enamel takes at least 60 days). You really don't want to clear it with laquer as it needs to be sanded and buffed to create a good "shine".
