I was wondering if anyone had heard any of "Niche" 's equipment going? I'm looking to do a fairly basic - and cheap- install on my car, and am debating between Niche and Pheonix Gold. The real goal is just to work on my enclosure building abilities, so what goes in the holes isn't terribly important, but it would be nice to have something that sounds good. The biggest debate is on the 12" Pheonix Gold Octane [Dual 2 Ohm, peak 700w] and the 15" Niche [Dual 4 Ohm peak 1000w] each sub will be suitably powered. any opinions?

Are you set on these two subwoofers or were you just wondering on their performance? I could recommend some other types of speakers that are very nice sounding and won't hurt your wallet too bad. I'm not sure about Niche, but Phoenix Gold is not a bad company. They have been around for a while and they sell good quality products. The kinda stuff that can last for years if you don't beat them up too bad. I can say the same for some other companies too... In my opinion I would go with the 12" Phoenix Gold. Then again I don't like that loud, sloppy bass from 15s. I never did like subs bigger than 12s. I guess my theory has always been if you want a louder system then just put more 12's in your vehicle!! Hahaha! My favorites would definitely be 10inchers though. Gotta love that tight bass! Everyone has there own opinion I guess.

So you have some serious box building skills huh? You in the business or just for yourself?

I'm not set on anything, but I am looking at an ebay store with good prices on those two. I'm always open to different ideas. I've loaded Pheonix Gold equipment in my car previously, I enjoyed the results for that price point. I like my bass a bit more loose, I tend to play more tech than country. plus, I just like the idea of 4 -15 inch subs in the back of a small car. I'm working on my box building abilitites, I've made a few things for fun, center consoles, door panels, I'll be making some kickpods later this month, so right now it's just for me and my friends, but I'm hoping/trying to get into the business.

I am afraid that's a misconception about larger diameter speakers being sloppy or slow. The real difference is motor strength and design. I can safely say that 15"s can have plenty of "punch" if you will so long as they are in the proper enclosure and are well designed, I can personally attest to this.

But I wouldn't recommend anything from Niche audio as they are not a reputable company, unlike Phoenix Gold who makes solid products at reasonable prices.

yeah, My first PG product was my x600.1 amp somewhat recently, from ebay... Heh cant beat those prices. it was new, and cheap. And I find it amazing. I have had Rockford Fosgate, and Infinity, and Alpine. but I honestly prefer the PG (most adjustable and easiest to setup). I will get them again in the future unless something blows up in a year or whatnot, which i dont see happening. I have also had 3 6" subs in a s-10, a 10" sub 2 12"s and couple of friends running nice 15s. the 15"s dont get really sloppy. If you want 15s i say go for it, just test them at a local shop or soemthing, make sure you like the sound.

I installed the Titanium Niche and I really did not like it because there was alot of cone noise to me I don't know if something was hitting the back of it or what but, you could hear somthing that sounded wired. Also, the guy has blown 3 of them and went to the next model up. He had enough power and the box spec we built for him came via Niche tech support. I was looking at Niche when we started are project car and after hearing his I decieded to go with MA. I have MA 1200Xls and love them pushing them with Visoniks V918XD amp and now I just bought MA HK15X2 for the new system in the shop car.

allright, so now I'm debating between Pheonix Gold and Power Acoustik equipment. First off, I know Power Acoustik stuff if shoddy at best, but I'm not looking for major sq, just a bit of spl. a basic, cheap loud system that can get ripped out and replaced with better stuff as money comes in. any thoughts on Power Acoustik?

stay away from power acostic sub's all they are good for is over priced paper weights. or door stops. hifonics zs series are a decent sub for the price. kicker comp's even.
