Here's my biggest time sucker when installing auto electronics...  Cutting the insulator for splices.  I have tried to use a stripper, but I've misjudged the wire gauge too damn often and cut into the wires.  Or even with a proper gauge, it still either cuts too deep or not deep enough.   If it's cutting the end of the wire, no problem.. But I'm talking about cutting a small section in the middle of a wire to splice in.

I've pretty much taken to just shaving it out with a blade.  This takes FOREVER.  Any tips?  I wish there was some way to reliably do it where I didn't need to get into some God awful position for 5 minutes to do.

Thanks!

Joseph

i just use a plain old craftsman multigauge stripper.  works great for me. just make sure that if u strip back that u don't angle it or it will cut your wiresTime saver? - Last Post -- posted image.

Garder and bender red handled automatic strippers work great. 18.00$ At your local hardware store. They do not actually cut the shielding, but just lock and pull it apart. been using it for about 3 years
