For all you "old schoolers" out there about 7 years back there was a product that you could configure that would match the targeted impedance. I believe it was called "Accumatch" or something close to that. It worked for the most part but than with the advent of mono amps and DVC drivers it really never took off. We carried them in our shop for about a year or two but have not seen one in quite some time. But if you could find one than yes you actually could change the impedance of your speaker "on the fly" so to speak. Makes me feel older than a pull out Alpine with a bag to carry it with.

Lol, I just searched ebay and found one. Can you, or anyone else say honestly they worked by tests? Because that is interesting.

It's just a transformer.  Sure, it would work.  Would it do anything to improve system performance?  Not likely.

I still have quite a few accumatche's laying around I use here and there. but I only use them to wire the impedance higher....I have found they will rob 40-60% of your power and by the time you take in efficency of a given amp its just not worth the time.
I use them to wire setups up from .5 or lower loads for comp use, to a much higher load for street use
