I've searched and searched but found no answer.  I need to know what may be causing my subs to make a load pop when my head unit is turned on.  They pop even if the volume down to zero and the bass is down all the way.  My setup is

amp: Alphasonik pma600hca ran 900watts rms x 2

subs: Alphasonik 800 series 12" ran 2ohm 900watts rms

head unit: Sony CDX-F700

power wire for amp is 2 guage, ground is a 6 gauge.

Thanks for any help you good folks can give me

You are supposed to use the same gauge for power and ground.

Here is a link to info on that for a start.  And as said above, the power and ground wires should match.  There may be other discrepancies in the install you will need to look for, as well.  But popping is normally because the amplifier doesn't have a delayed turn on built in, or it's not set right.  The info in the Crutchfield article is the build principle if you're so inclined, or you can buy a separate unit that you can install that will perform the delay.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
