Anyone know how to bypass the Sony XAV-A1? I was under the impression that I could ground out the brake and bypass it that way, but when connected to a ground I still can not get picture! Do I need to have a switch or can I have it always grounded? Or maybe it is looking for a positive input? The book does not specify.

Well, I bought a switch and hooked it up and nothing I am thinking that it is a positive trigger but I don't want to mess it up!

I spent about a hour in the car trying different things to get this to work. I tried tieing the wire that is to go to the barking brake into a positive feed and then ground it through a switch, no dice. I then grounded the system directly and it worked! Atleast for a couple minutes. Sony XAV-A1 Bypass - Last Post -- posted image. Then I think the system looked for something and turn the picture off again.

I am thinking that I the system is looking for a current draw on the line, not just a ground. I was thinking about taping the brake + and using a relay some how to make it work. Here is what I was thinking:

I need some input on this.

I fixed it!! Turns out that the ground point that I was using for the cell phone charger was not strong enough for the radio! So I moved it and voila, it works! Still going to relay the thing for a lighted switch!
