Hello,

I am installing an after market alarm o my car. I am familiar with automotive electronics and am self taught. I am still learning and hence i have a very basic question to ask.

The alarm has two door trigger sensing wires..one fro +ve and one for -ve.

I have read the description in this very inforative web site as to were they shoudl be connected to but as i look at the simple wiring diagram i am unable to see where this shoudl be.

my car is a nissan sunny..the circuit is....

battery to dome light to door swtich.

when the door is open the swtich makes contact and current flows, thus the dome light comes on. Is this a negative door trigger or a positive door trigger if so what woudl indicate this to me as i look at the circuit?

Finally it seems that i shoud connec the alarm wire close to on the dome light harness..should i connect to the wire on the battery side or on teh switch side?

many thanks to all those that keep this great site up and running.

regards

Sunny boy368.

Use a digital multi meter.
Find your wire
attach one end to ground, the other to the door switch wire.
Do you have voltage
Now open your door.
The voltage will drop.
This would be your negative system.
For positive, You will have no voltage on your door trigger line.
When you open your door. You will have 12volts running through that wire.
Most japanese cars are - trigger
Chevy is usually - trigger
Fords are famous for + trigger
