Hello all, I've got to install an amp, deck and 4 speakers in a 2003 GMC Sierra. We carry the Scosche databus interface for this truck, but the customer didn't want to cough up $120 bucks for it. According to the manual with it, all he will lose is the factory door chime, since he doesn't have On Star or the premium sound option. There shouldn't be any major problems, right? Also, any good spots along the firewall to run the power wire? My bits suck and have a tendency to break on me when I try to drill a whole for wire. I don't have to do this 'till tomorrow, so I'm trying to do my homework on it. Thanks in advance for any help.

i always shake my head when a shop owner or installer says " i have to do a half-assed job that is potentially unsafe, because the customer doesnt want to pay to have it done properly " ...... first off, tell the customer that he will be losing more than the chime ( that happens to be the warning indicator for no seatbelt on, among other things, headlights, key in, etc) and in the name of HIS safety and YOUR potential liability, you want to do it correctly or not at all.....

Secondly, you can use a uni-bit or step-bit to drill your power cable holes, this will prevent broken pilot bits and also make it much easier if you have to increase the opening a touch.....

Thanks for the advice, but you don't have to be a smart ass about it. I hate installers that are like 'I've been doing this for x amount of years and I can't stand newbs that ask questions, so I'll just be a jerk about it.'
