Well the pg sub handles 400 watts rms, and the mtx one handles 250, the sensitivity on the pg is 91 db and 89 on the mtx...  So judging by that alone it looks like that pg sub will be louder.  But then again PG might have rated their sensitivity the 2.83v method in which case the mtx will be about the same loudness as the PG.  The PG has a longer linear excursion by at least 10mm, but it also has a higher fs, of 27hz compared to the mtx's 22hz.     Now comes the big decision maker...  the mtx sub only requires 2.6 cubes to sound good, the PG requies about 5 cubic foot.... that is huge.  I wouldn't be basing my decision strictly on which would be louder, because there are a lot of other factors that play into this.  I think for my tastes I would go with the mtx sub.  It would theoretically hit lower, and do it in a smaller enclosure and they are both 15's and have quite a bit of surface area so they will both be pretty loud.
fiberglass reminds me of peanut brittle... but fiberglass tastes better!

I dont have any experience with PG subs, but i know there amps ratings are almost RIGHT on.  there all CEA certified and I am assuming there subs would be rated properly as well.

thats 5cu feet for a music' playing box..i was looking into their spl spec box and it only has 3 cubic feet...so thats what i would prolly go and build, would this have any downsides in the way the bass hits or the quality it plays?...thanks for all the replies so far
