I've had the Z1 for a few weeks now and absolutly love it.  But for whatever reason I can't seem to upload my own images to the hard drive.  I've followed the manual to the T and have spoken to Pioneer too many times to count, but to no avail. Basically, the unit sees the CD-R that I created but doesn't allow me to select the "import pictures" button.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or can someone walk me through the process they've used to get this done? So frustrating....

Sometimes the units are really picky about file extentions and whatnot.
Try multiple combinations, eg:
background.jpg
background.JPG
background.jpeg
background.JPEG
I think they have to be in a folder called BG.
Also, they don't like to read CD's unless they have a lot of data on them, so throw some random stuff on the CD to get it to at least 250MB.
If that dosn't work, you can allways use the pim converter and burn a dvd from www.avic411.com

Awesome...thanks for the advice.  The manual for the Z1 says the disk has to be at least 100mb full and that the foler should be labeled "Pictures".  Which I've done, but you may be right about the file extensions.... I'll give that a try and see if it helps.

Thanks!

don't know what happened to the thread about the video feed, but, fyi, my avic-z1 is now playing dvd's while in motion!  :-) it can be done.

green wire grounded (no connection to e-brake)
:start car and at "starting pioneer navigation screen" flicker your lights
:you have to hit "okay" to confirm connection is legal
:you also have to hit "okay" to confirm the e-brake isn't properly connected
:the dvd will then play regardless of the position of the e-brake
:you can switch in between navi, dvd, am/fm, and library
green wire properly connected to e-brake
:e-brake must be off
:start car and at "starting pioneer navigation screen" flicker your lights
:you have to hit "okay" to confirm connection is legal
:the dvd will not play if e-brake is engaged and then released (must restart car and redo the whole process in order to get dvd w/o e-brake on)
:you can switch in between navi, dvd, am/fm, and library
when i say "flicker", it means the first initial screen will show a message at the very top stating the pioneer navigation is initializing and at that very moment you turn your lights on and off.
