i currently own a jbl gto1201.1 which is 1100 watts rms at 2 ohm i was wondering if i got dual 2ohm alpine type r's how would i wire them to get a 2 ohm load and is this a good match?

How many Type R's?
If it's only two subs, wire them like this:

thanks that helps alot it will be 2 subs i forgot to say that. you guys think those subs are a good match for the amp there rated at 500rms each and 1500 max?

Sure they are a good sub. The question is what are you doing about the box. Good sound is all about the box. Read the stickies about boxes and box design for more info.

You should be fine, but set your gains correctly.  Do a search in this forum for "gain" if you don't know how.

i have a slot ported box that is 1.75 cubic feet per chamber i built it myself to specs for some infinity's but when i was looking at the alpine i noticed they need 1.75 cubic feet for a ported encloser as well

Do you know what the box is tuned to or how long the ports are?
