Shallow sub

OK... I can take it... While Earthquake DOES build some very fine woofers, (and I never said they DON'T) I specifically mentioned the SWS woofers. They are not even CLOSE to as good as the other products in the line. Someone mentioned Pioneer's license, also... anybody can license from anybody, if the cash exchange is high enough, it doesn't mean they are GOOD drivers... Will it sell? Can we market this, and make more than we have into it? Does it look good? Will it sell? (Yes, I repeated it, because that's the question on EVERY manufacturers mind) I mentioned also, SPECIFICALLY the rocking modes. This is aimed DIRECTLY at the AUDIBLY non-linear bass these drivers (as I said in my previous post) will (and do) produce. Without even pressing with any pressure, I was able to make the coice coil rub in them. This is NOT good, ever. This particular woofer is aimed at a niche market, a niche market that can probably be better served with a different woofer... This example (the SWS) is a band-aid, and one with too small an absorbent pad, IMO. While I admit I was a bit harsh, I still stand by my bashing of these woofers. They are a bad design, and they do NOT sound good. They are "long throw", short voice-coil, underhung woofers, with poor spider design. I am not a speaker designer, I cannot say what would be better, but ANY woofer should be better at linearity than these have proven (to me) to be. If this happens to be the best that Earthquake can do, good on 'em, but they are NOT good enough for me. I am sorry I went off like I did. It was out of character for me, certainly. I still believe there are probably better shallow mount woofers available out there. I have never heard all of them, but I have heard the SWS, and I will reiterate - I was unimpressed. They are NOT accurate drivers.It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
