I'm changing vehicles soon and noticed that in planning the sound system upgrade, i can use the same 6.5" speakers in the front that i currently have in my truck (alpine SPS 171A components).

my question, would it be worth the upgrade to move up to the Alpine type "r" components (spr 17LS i think) is there that much of a difference between the type "r" and type "s" components?

you can never have too much of a good thing

I don't really think that would be worth the money at all. You should listen to both sets on the same songs and try to decide if you think it'd be worth it. If it were me, I'd just save up more money and throw that down on a much nicer set of components in the future.
