im installing a viper 5000 into my car. im going to hook up several things to the alarms instant trigger input, the trunk pin, backup battery, proximity sensor, and a glass breakage sensor. would i need to use diodes? and if so cathode side towards the alarm?

Yes use diodes
neg flow from band side to non-band side
so have the band side pointing toward the trunk pin
and band side away from the blue wire in the back up battery
my suggestion on extra sensor is to use sensor 1 & sensor 2 for your prox and glass break sensor
Find a old shock sensor harness and cut it in half so you have two ends for 2 dif sensor (Thats what i did and it works fine, i used prox sensor)
Hope my explanation are clear
