I am having a little trouble with the door locks on my 2005 Ram 4 door. I have located the PURPLE / green wire for the door locks but no resistor will lock or unlock the doors. Is this the wrong wire again? I ask because I have found a couple of wrong wires while working on other vehicles, so if it is, does anyone know what wire I am to use? I am testing prior to actually making the connections and I am using the resistors I am suppose to. I am looking under the scuff plate in the drivers foot well behind a rubber pad just to the left of the park brake. Is there another PURPLE / green wire somewhere else? Maybe I'm looking at a PURPLE / green wire and the one I need is a darker green???

I am, I went back out to look at all the wires again. I found another purple wire. I thought it was PURPLE / blue but it is PURPLE / drk green. I would like to thank Chrysler for using SO many close color wire that close together!

The resistor values will change if you have a security system on the truck or not. Here's what I have for this truck:

Power Lock:(-)PURPLE / Green
Power Unlock:(-)PURPLE / Green
** Doorlocks are Multiplexed.
Without an OEM Alarm: PURPLE / Dark Green
Ground (-) through a 1 K Ohm resistor for Lock.
Ground (-) through a 360 Ohm resistor for Unlock. See diagram for proper connection.
With an OEM Alarm: PURPLE / Light Blue
Ground through a 2 K ohm resistor for Lock & Arm.
Ground through a 470 ohm resistor for Disarm & Unlock. (May require a double pulse for unlock) See diagram for proper connection

I've rarely needed relays on Rams.
Anyway, the lock wire doesn't involve taking off the kick panel.
Crawl under the dash, and imagine that a driver is seated in the truck.......just above where the driver's left toes would be, is a rectangular white plastic plug, with wires coming out running in the direction of the back of the truck.
The lock wire is in that bundle, as well as positive parking lights (WHITE/ silver), and the brake wire.
What are you using to test the wire?
--If you're using a meter, connect one end to constant positive, and the other end to the wire in the truck.....when you push lock or unlock on the door panel, you will see a few volts; I have no idea exactly how many volts, but that will tell you you're on the right wire.
--If you're using a regular test light, or LED test light, when the light is touched against the wire, the door locks will not work correctly while touching the switch on the door......they will work again when you remove the light.

This picture shows the POWER DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK wire, a PURPLE / DARK GREEN in the DRIVERS KICK PANEL area and is identified with the RED clip in this picture.

For the 2005 model year vehicle, to ARM/LOCK will require a (-)Negative thru a 644 Ohm Resistor and to DISARM/UNLOCK requires a (-)Negative thru a 1565 Ohm Resistor. A Single Pulse thru the 1565 will DISARM without Unlocking. Double Pulse to UNLOCK. Some units will also require 2 extra Relays Part #775 to complete this circuit, to connect, See DIAGRAM

if you are adding diodes instead of relays....dont forget to take into count the ohm value of the diode. and subtract it from the total to find the value needed.
