Anyone remember when this idea came out about theifs shorting the alarm out by sticking a screwdriver in the parking light socket?Wouldn't that just blow the parking light fuse and not short the alarm??

The parking light output on an alarm is usually fused at 10 amps. The alarm brain is usually fused at 15 amps. The 10 amp fuse blows first.

Probably from the same people that claim to be able to transmit an RF code through their cell phone to unlock their car... funny that some might actually try it too-   It has enough problem with voices, nevermind RF- "can you hear me now?" shorting alarm thru parking lights - Last Post -- posted image.

This was on AOL today:

I remember years ago when transmitter's were on a single code and frequency and a local news show here did an article about code grabbers and they were disarming all kinds of factory and aftermarket systems on a mall parking lot. They did run into one at the time they couldn't disarm. Was a Clifford.

I tried the shorting out of a parking light years ago and with it flashing the fuse did not blow right away. I do like how the better companies thought ahead years ago and did put seperate fusing on things like the parking light outputs.

the reason why the whole screwdriver thing worked was cause people would break the bulb short it with the screw driver then set off the alarm. My understanding was that the old parking light circuits werent fused for alarms which is why this would work..

Yep, I have a few. I bought my first one in 1977 (the red 1973 Custom I bought completely stock and did a few things to it over the years). Here is a link to my cars and stuff:
