As long as the rated CCA of the battery is enough there shouldn't be any problems.

What I am concerned about is that they are designed to be used till you drain them then recharge them fully. At least that is what I have been told . So would the life of the battery go down by keeping it charged at all times?

Nah.. as long as the rated CCA is enough for your car you shouldn't see any problems. They are constructed differently than cranking batteries.. a deep cycle with the same CCA as a cranking battery will be physically larger.. that's all. As an aside, you really don't want to take a deep cycle down more than 50% discharged.. and less than that is better.
