Orion HCCA D2400 Amplifier

I am looking at buying the Orion HCCA D2400 amp, but i recently saw that it pushes 1200 rms, not 2400 rms into 1 ohm. Could somebody confirm the specs so I can get the right amp?Disturbin' Tha Peace

1 ohm is no prob. It's designed that way. For SPL it can handle lower impedences for short periods. Ya you can cook your breakfast on 'em if you push 'em hard but I've never had one go into thermal shutdown. Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

I would say "probably". The old school red 225HCCA I had would do 1/2 ohm BRIDGED, and it never shut down. It would got so hot, you couldn't hold your hand on it, but it never shut down once. Feed it enough current, and they're pretty happy driving low impedance loads. While the new Orion isn't CLOSE to the old Orion, I'd say it should... they do still have the name to uphold, so I guess they did their homework...It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice.
